Virtuosity is an iPad application published by Luke Morgan (“we,” “us”). This policy describes how the app handles information. An older draft of this page could not be located on disk or on prior GitHub Pages; the text below matches the current app.
What Virtuosity does
Virtuosity visualizes MIDI from a digital piano as a piano roll, records performances as Standard MIDI files on the device, and can play them back to the instrument. Optional export creates a package of MIDI, a short metadata text file, and locally rendered audio.
Information we collect
Virtuosity does not require an account and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs.
- MIDI performance data. Note, timing, velocity, and pedal messages received from a connected instrument are used to draw the roll and, if you record, are stored as
.midfiles plus a small JSON sidecar (display name, date, comments, folder, tempo, meter, device name) in the app’s Documents folder on your iPad. - Preferences. Appearance, metronome sound, accent setting, and time signature are stored in on-device UserDefaults.
- No cloud sync. Recordings are not uploaded to our servers. We do not operate a Virtuosity backend for this app.
Sharing
If you use the system share sheet to export MIDI or a practice package, the files you choose leave the app only through Apple’s share interface, to the destination you pick (Files, Mail, AirDrop, and so on). We do not receive a copy.
Children
The app is a practice tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. MIDI recordings stay on the device unless you export them yourself.
